Luascadh was formed through friendship and love of Irish music and dancing. The dancers trained with the McCarthy-Felton School of Irish dancing and they, with musicians Patricia Clark and Colin McGill, have shared platforms for many years. Dancers successfully compete at National and International level and currently hold World Irish Dance Association titles in both solo and figure (group) dancing, as well as attending International Folk Festival. Patricia Clarke is one of Ireland’s finest musicians. She holds a Masters in Irish Traditional Music Performance and is renowned as a teacher as well as a performer. She has toured globally with groups such as The Chieftans, Altan, Flook and Lunasa and was a founding member of International group The Outside Track. Colin McGill is an All-Ireland winning piano accordionist. He has toured with Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and is known to and loved by Irish dancers everywhere as a top quality musician for dancers. Because of this Colin travels all over including places as far afield as Russia and Australia. This is Luascadh’s first time participating in Festival Itercelticu de Aviles y Comarca and they are delighted to have been given this opportunity.
